The District was established to protect and enhance the quality of waters within its jurisdiction, and to ensure that appropriate decisions are made concerning management of streams, wetlands, lakes, groundwater and related land resources that impact these waters.

Watershed Management Plan
The revised Cormorant Lakes Watershed District (CLWD) Management Plan (aka "10-Year Plan") has been finalized and will be presented to the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water Resources ("BWSR") for approval on January 19, 2012. The full plan is available for review by clicking on the link above.
(Note: you will need Adobe Reader, available as a free download at www.adobe.com, to view the Management Plan.)
Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) The Watershed is actively participating in management of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS), such as our efforts to support Upper Cormorant in control of curly leaf pondweed, and by staying abreast of best practices to prevent AIS spread, as evidenced by this Certificate of Completion at a recent Minnesota DNR training session.
Manager Appointments
CLWD Managers are appointed by the Becker County Commissioners for 3-year terms starting January 1. The terms for current Cormorant Lakes Watershed District managers Jody Beaudine and Eugene Olson expire on December 31, 2011; as such, the Becker County Commissioners will re-appoint these managers, or appoint new managers, both for 3-year terms, in the November 8 Commissioners meeting. Notice was also published in the Detroit Lakes newspaper on October 23.
